We are back once again for the LEC and the league has finally entered the second half of the Summer Split. The first rematch in Fnatic’s 2nd round-robin was against their former jungler Selfmade and his Vitality lineup.

The following battle was just as scrappy as expected from these two organizations. But it is in the high tempo madness that Fnatic thrives and they displayed their dominance once again by beating Vitality, securing their first 2–0 head to head in summer.

Hylissang came trough with a stellar Alistar performance to start of the weekend. He had a massive presence on the map and was the main playmaker for Fnatic in the early- to midgame. But whilst his support was roaming around the map, Upset also reminded his opponents that he was a force to be reckoned with, even finding a solo kill on Crownshot under the tower.

VIT vs FNC highlights

The second game of the week was against Fnatic’s British rivals on Excel Esports. For this game, Excel pulled a new page out of their playbook. A Diana/Yasuo wombo combo setup was the new strategy, and it did wonders for Excel during the game. They managed to secure both a Nashor and the Elder Dragon buff. Fnatic was forced into a last stand under their nexus turrets as their base crumbled under the pressure exerted by Excel.

But despite having their backs against the wall, Fnatic put Excel in the dirt and wiped them of the map twice to secure a 2–0 weekend and 1st place in the standings. Once again they showed the world how hard it is to break this team and that they won’t fall over and die just because of a deficit in game.

FNC vs XL Highlights

Fnatic is now officially on top in the LEC, sharing the glory with the Spring Split finalists, Rouge. The standings are starting to settle down and most of the big organizations are sneaking themselves towards the top. But unlike many previous splits, it is impossibly hard to call who is favorite for the championship.

We are also moving towards the World Championship where 3 LEC teams are going to participate. This fact alone means that at least one of the four big favorites in G2, FNC, RGE and MAD is going to miss the tournament. Will there be other teams that step up to challenge the giants? Only time will tell!
